Red Hot Chili Peppers

Hello everyone, for this mani a tribute to one of my favorite bands: Red Hot Chili Peppers, because they're awesome. It's a simple mani with just their symbol as accent nail.
The cross symbol was easy to make with the use of tape. As my base color I used the gorgeous, #1 China Glaze must-have (in my opinion); Ruby Pumps. This red polish with micro-glitters deserves a price really, it's girly and classy but at the same time vampy and sensational. My pictures don't do justice to it at all.
On top I placed tape strips in an eight armed cross shape, and layered the whole with a black creme. Now, to make the cross a RHCP logo, I shortened the arms until they were evenly long as wide. And that's it :)
Peace & love!

Cross shape before I shortened the arms; this way it still looks too Union Jack , lol.

  2. @Sara ♥'s ...: I do too :) To be honest, I was very hesitant about shortening the arms, afraid I would mess up the 'Union Jack', lol.

  6. Very cool, as usual I am totally crazy about your mani :) I just love the combination of red and black. I did a taping recently too, I can't believe how easy it is to get something cool with a bit of tape!

  15. I just tried this manicure (literally, I'm taking a break to type this). How do you get the tape strips done so well? I am having the hardest time with it: cutting them the right width, then getting them off without messing up the polish or having the tape break. I can do tape manis when they're huge pieces making a diagonal line across my whole nail, but these are so difficult! Good on you for your capabilities :)

  16. @Anonymous: Hi there :) Thanks for your comment. I keep the strips the same size by trying to keep them as wide as my scissorblades. To make the symbol I first made the lines accross my whole nail, as you can see in the second picture. Later when everything was dry I shortened the arms, with tape again. So I just taped of each arm of the cross and went over it with black. But looking but I might just as well have done that part with a little brush, so I wouldn't have had to wait another time for the surface to dry. Hope this was helpful, good luck! :)

    1. Thank you! ^^ My basecolor (the black) was already dry here, so I could start right away with the tape. The cross symbol was finished within 5 minutes, cutting the tape included. It's the drying of the basecolor which takes the longest, so most of the time I'll do my tape manis on top of the mani from the previous day. ;-)
