Outer Space Marble - A layering experiment

Hi guys! Today I'd like to show you a layering experiment I did a little while ago. I started with China Glaze First Mate, on top went Milani Cyberspace from the 3D Holographic collection, OPI Last Friday Night, Golden Rose #10 aaand... *gasp* ...matte topcoat. That's a mouthful. I really love the endresult, it looks like some kind of marble from outer space hahah. Quite interesting. Surprsingly Last Friday Night, which usually turns any polish into magic, was a bit unnecessary this time as it was hardly visible on top of Cyberspace. Golden Rose #10 on the other hand is just mind-blowing gorgeous! Pretty red flakies. In the bottle you can see them shifting from red to gold, to green and blue. But even after a zillion shots I wasn't able to capture the complete rainbow. A shame, because it's so pretty in real life!
I used many polishes to achieve this look, but surprisingly everything dried pretty well, because I only used one coat of each. And as I said, Last Friday Night could be left out the next time I do this. Have a great weekend everyone :)

  3. Awesome!!! Ik heb toevallig hetzelfde lakje van Golden Rose en vond het effect bij 1 laag al erg mooi (soortgelijk aan you don't know Jacques). Wil het "layer-en" ook eens proberen

  6. Wow, gorgeous. I love layering. I think you can achieve so much more than polish alone, but geez, this is to pretty.

  13. Olive, Manicured Slayer and I want to know how to get some golden rose flakes. I googled but got nothing. Would Nfu oh48 be a close substitute?

  16. Thank you everyone for your comments!

Many of you had asked where the Golden Rose flakies could be purchased, here's a little list I found online:

    http://beautifulnails4u.nl/index.php/8-golden-rose/1215-waar-is-golden-rose-te-koop

It's in the first comment. Sadly for some, I found out all of these shops don't ship outside Europe.

However, this Dutch webshop, www.nailwebshop.nl, does ship outside the Netherlands but doesn't say anything about whether it should be in Europe or not, so send them an e-mail first (info@nailwebshop.nl) to find out whether they ship to your country or not.

My bottles of Golden Rose flakies were bought at an event, so I don't have any experience with the webshops mentioned in the link.

Another FYI, make sure to type Golden Rose Scale Effect when you're looking for them in search engines, because that's how they're called :-)

I hope this was a little bit helpful for most of you and good luck!

  17. @denisfh: Make sure to type Golden Rose Scale Effect when you're googling them and read the comment above this one ;-)
It was hard to tell how similar the Nfu Oh and Golden Rose are. From pictures I think the flakies of both are similar, though the GR doesn't have the little white, pearly particles like #48 does. In this link I found, you can see how the flakies in #48 have the same rainbow as #10 I was talking about:

  20. Sorry to comment on such an old post, but I saw this a long time ago and instantly fell in love with it. I wasn't sure if I could find all the polishes but I just knew that I had to! I spent months searching and finally found the Golden Rose polish online. I had to have it imported since I live in the U.S. I purchased all of the other polishes as soon as it arrived and finally, 6 months after I first saw this post, I can finally recreate this gorgeous look! Thank you so much Jane!
