    1. Hello Tone, thanks for your comment. :-) I don't know who came up with this challenge originally, but ever since I started my blog I've seen many bloggers doing it. If you look up '31 day challenge nail art' on Google, you should be able to find a list of all the themed challenges for the period of 31 days. So during those 31 days you're supposed to do a different mani each day according to the theme that goes with each day. That's basically it. I think the point of this challenge is to be creative, because although there's a theme, you can make it as big or simple as you like. Plus it's fun for readers to see it going on on different blogs, as each challenge result turns out differently per blog. Hope you join as well!

  4. Hi Jane, I really love your blog, because there's so much creativity to look at. I love your attempts at the 31-Day challenge so far, but just wanted to ask you, when are you going to post from day 13 onwards? Because I was really curious to see what you would have for the other topics as well, and its been a long time since you posted last.

    1. Hi Russella, thank you for your comment and question. :-) I'm pretty bummed myself about not being able to post as often as I'd like. There are still so many things I want to share with you on this blog! But I simply don't have as much spare time as I used to, now that I'm focusing on school and things going on in my personal life. But as you can see the 31 Day Challenge is still going on, slowly but going on. ;-) And perhaps that I can step it up a notch once my exams are done in two weeks!

  8. It's great you are still doing the 31 day challenge even though you are spacing it out a bit. I was always intimidated about the thought of having to come up with something creative every single day, now maybe ill try since i can spread it out :-)

  12. Hey Jane! Thanks for sharing your nail art tutorials. I am so inspired by your pictures I plan to try Galaxies. You make it look so easy! Do you use nail care products? Top coat, base coat, nail hardener, cuticle oils, hand creams etc. Which ones? I have heard great reviews on Trind natural nail care products. Very expen$ive! (in the US) Any comments? Thanks a bunch!

    1. Thanks, Kelli! About the nail care products, I do have a few favorites, here they come:

Basecoat: Orly - Bonder. I love the rubberized finish and the fact it dries quick. I'm not sure if it actually makes my manis last as I change my polish too soon to tell. It does prevent staining though if I use apply two coats.

Topcoat: Seche Vite and Sally Hansen InstaDry. I like SV because it's the quickest drying topcoat I've known so far, this is perfect for doing tape manis or if I'm in a hurry. The downside however is that it can cause shrinkage in some cases and it gets goopy quite fast. So I prefer using SV if I can. It never has problems with shrinkage and I like the thin formula.

Hand/cuticle cream: Like many others, I love to use Lemony Flutter from Lush for the cuticles. The smell is amazing (if you like lemons that is :P), but it is greasy, so I only use it at night before going to bed. Throughout the day I use different kinds of handcream. I don't really have one in particular that I stick to, just any one I can find on my desk/in my bag (I have way too many!).

      Hope this helps, dear! ;-)

    3. What is the best hot pink nail polish that comes out without lumps? Thanks for responding to my comment!

      Delete
    4. Hot pinks (and reds) generally don't have a lot of problems like lumps, I assume it's because of the pigments that are easily to work with. Unlike the pigments in yellows which often are hard to apply evenly/cause bald spots/aren't opaque, no matter what brand you're using. However, reds and pinks usually don't have that problem. So I'd recommend not to spend much money on 'regular' red/pinks, as the ones from drugstore brands usually apply just as nice as more expensive brands.

  18. I am thinking about going to school to become a nail tech. Your designs really inspire me. I LOVE doing hand painted nail art. Not a lot of salons offer much nail art around here. I just need to get the guts to go ahead and take the chance!!!
    Thank you!

  19. I love how simple and clean your designs are! I have the hardest time with straight lines, myself. Especially when working with my non-dominant hand. Do you have any tips for getting cleaner looking designs when using the non-dominant hand?

    Thanks for this wonderful blog!

    1. Hi Kristina! Thank you for leaving your sweet comment. ^_^ When I have to paint with my non-dominant hand, I'm not actually using it: I hold it still instead, and move around the hand/nail that's being painted. That way I still get to use my dominant hand for more straight lines. ;-)

  20. You are so amazingly talented! I love doing my nails too and I am so inspired by your blog. Today, I did a light blue base coat with blue to pink ombre(a.k.a. gradient) stars. By the way, what top coat do you use? I use Sally Hansen, but every time I apply it on top of a design, it smears it. Plus, how do you apply a perfect design on your dominant hand perfectly? Its hard for me because I'm a righty and when I apply a design with my left hand, it always turns out bad. Thanks!
